7 Months Old!

Timmy,
You won't remember your Mama studying for the Bar exam, but this post might be a good hint that she did. The test is in 4 days, so I don't really have time to tell you about all the cute things you do right now and the ways you've changed. (Plus some people complained that the last post was too long...) Here's the highlight list:

You are pretty excited about the little mohawk you're growing:

You decided one day that you were going to roll--both ways--and now you do it regularly. You first learned how to roll three months ago, but rarely did it over the next three months. You also can move from a sitting position to your belly, but haven't quite figured out how to get back to sitting.

You now feed yourself during the day, and your favorite foods are peas, sweet potatoes, avocado, zucchini, blueberries, prunes (ugh, I don't know how you eat these), apricots, and cereal. By some strange miracle, you decided you would take a bottle again at night if we let you hold it. So now I'm officially not worried about you starvingdropping onto the growth chart when I'm away for three days next week during the Bar.

You are ticklish under your armpits and on the bottom of your feet. You have a really cute giggle. You don't say any identifiable word yet, but sometimes it really sounds like you're saying "hey" and "hi."

You got your first cold. :( Daddy was sick, and by the next day, you and I were both sick. When Grandma came to rescue us and let me study, she got sick too. It was easily the hardest two weeks since you were born. No one slept for a few days, everyone felt like crap and I was supposed to be studying all day, every day. After 3 doctors visits, 3 different prescriptions, a humidifier and too many over-the-counter medications to count, I think we're back on the road to recovery.

You are so much fun these days, and I'll be very glad when we can enjoy a lot of family time in a week!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

The things he finds funny...

He's starting to find amusement in our misfortunes.

If we yawn, he giggles.

If he pees on us, he cracks up.

When he launches a toy on a spring like a sling shot and it hits Pete in the face, it sets off a laughing tirade...

Busy

There has been a lot going on here, but we've been too busy to blog about any of it.

I have 20 study days left before the Bar. Can't believe that.

We had a fun fourth of July weekend, and I used that as my last hurrah until the Bar is done, taking some time during the day to hang out and play instead of studying.

We're moving August 1st to a new apartment in Playa Vista (about 5 miles to the south). More on that later, but let's just say we're very excited to be there, but dreading the move (and dreading the packing since I won't have time to do it).

Timmy is doing well. We found the sippy cup that seems to work best for him...The Munchkin ones (from Babies R Us)...he now feeds himself completely and drinks the whole thing. He also LOVED peas and still likes the cereal.

Once we gave him chunks of banana instead of the pureed version, he loved that too. We put some frozen pieces in a baby safe feeder.

We're trying apples today and then zucchini, then it's on to some really fun stuff, like Blueberries, Cherries and Peaches!

On the 4th, we got a little blow-up pool and he seemed to like it. I think he just assumed it was bath time because he was all quiet and looking at us, waiting for us to do something.

He capped off the weekend with a beer or two. What feels better on sore gums than a cold one?

I can do it myself!

It seems that Timmy just wanted to feed himself. Once we gave him control, he ate the whole bowl of sweet potatoes. (well, what didn't end up on him)

At times he ate directly from the bowl.

It was a delicious mess.

It all came off in the bath afterward though.

Timmy's First Room

Our lease is up August 1st. While I don't plan on moving out the day after the Bar exam, we are starting to look at new places for rent. While there are a lot of things I would change about this apartment if I could, I am starting to realize that it is still going to be sad when we leave here, whenever that may be. This is the place where I spent my last year in law school, where I went into labor and where we brought home our first born. This is where we learned the lessons of first-time parenting and the joys of babies.

One of the things I do love about this apartment is the nursery. It was fun to decorate it and get it ready for his arrival. My pregnancy didn't seem like it was really going to end in a baby being born until we had a little place set up just for him.

He slept in his crib starting when we brought him home from the hospital and we do a lot of playing and reading books in there now.

He LOVES looking at the pictures here. The grandparents, mom and dad, but mostly the picture of himself:

People always told me be careful of what you do ...And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts *

Timmy is a big 'ole heartbreaker. We had his 6 month check-up today...

Length: 27.5" (90th percentile)
Weight: 23 lbs. (off the chart)
Head Circumference: 18.5" (off the chart)

He definitely knew what we were at the doctor's office for today. The second the nurse started adjusting him to measure his length, he started shrieking. That continued for a good portion of the appointment, particularly with the shots. Luckily, we don't have to go back for 3 months. Hopefully the Timmy's memory will fade by then.
